The Full Story

Jacquie Porcaro is a photographer known for her evocative equine portraits as well as her action-infused equestrian photography. Her passion for photography began 15 years ago in Argentina when she picked up her first camera  and began to develop her skill. Later, when she moved to Wellington Florida, where equestrian sport is the raison d’etre, she was inspired to devote her creative energy to equestrian photography. She devoted years to developing her technique and the technical skill necessary to capture the perfect moment, that split-second when the horse is caught mid-stride or mid-air, flying over a hurdle in the show jumping arena.

Bold, athletic images are the bread-and-butter of equestrian photography, but Jacquie was looking for something more. She sought to immortalize those magical moments in time when horse and rider breathe as one, and the deep relationship that exists between a horse and its human. 

When Jacquie began her study of photography, it was a different craft, without the tools and technology we enjoy today, and she worked relentlessly to hone her skills. As a professional, she began with family photography and portraiture, which she still loves. But once she witnessed all the beauty that Wellington’s equestrian world had to offer, she focused on honing the skills that are necessary to capture the exhilaration of competition. 

Applying a range of techniques, Jacquie’s work showcases not only excitement and athleticism, but an aesthetic that incorporates emotion as well as the physical beauty of her equine subjects. Whether she’s capturing a triumph in the show ring or a candid moment of intimacy between horse and rider, she blends expert technique with emotion to stunning effect. Most recently, she has focused on equine portraits printed on museum-quality acrylic glass.
